Artforce Awards

The Brisbane City Council gives out awards annually for the best painting on the city's traffic signal boxes and energex cabinets. I was lucky enough to have boxes short listed in two categories best energex cabinet and best organisation (abc radio Brisbane.) It was an interesting experience and hearing the judges thought processes explained has given me some good pointers for if I paint any more boxes in future. The overall award went to Urban Wetlands by Damian James. Congrats to Damian!

I had a pretty quiet start to the year after deciding to put my head down and spend time really planning out and researching my next projects. Except for a little thing called the Yonder Festival. A multi-arts festival held at the Tivoli as part of the Brisbane Street Art Festival.

There were stages inside, on the floor & outside. There were experimental sex related video games. There was VR spray painting and real live painting. While upstairs was a visual art playground, it was magical! I learnt a little lesson realising too late that the spot I'd hung my two paintings was poorly lit when it was show time. Oh well, something to keep in mind in future. It was a hell of a party and I'm so proud of TBC and everyone that helped put this together.
